Canadians don't want it. Neither do Americans. But Trump keeps talking about it. And nobody is coming to the rescue except all of us. Sierra Club of Canada's Conor Curtis tells us where to start.
Excellent articles. I especially appreciate the insight that Trump is a run of the mill abuser. He is an abuser, and most of his victims don't know this yet, thus how he's been elected again. Like most abuse victims they will return to him over and over again until they have a breakdown or a breakthrough.
Given Trump's history, this could all blow over by next Friday...or next week. Maybe it will; maybe it won't. Meanwhile, I've heard news about --in essence--boycotting American products. That's a bit like a mouse slinging pebbles against an elephant but some boycotts would be good for our health, anyway. E.g., why not ban glyphosate from coming through our borders? It's a proven out-and-out poison. The 'Murricans have MAHA--how about MaCHA? Make Canada Healthy Again! That would encourage local food product, improve our health, save us tons of money, and strengthen our resilience. A ban on a substance also cannot be construed as a counter-tariff. Personally, I'm sick and tired of finding out that most products in my favorite grocery store are just poisonous crap empty of real nourishment, imported from south of the border. What are we waiting for? Let's get rid of this sh-- and get strong on Canadian food! Is there a more important issue than our health? I don't think so!

Such a good point, Suzanne. Unfortunately, leaders and advisors with that experience should be all too easy to find.

The abuser analogy is right on. Maybe we need leaders with experience with intimate partner violence to advise Canada on how to protect ourselves.
Fire article Conor. Thank you! 🔥
